Donkey Log!

October 20, 2008

Just another beautiful day at the farm.  I have moved to another pasture and am working with Dad to learn how to protect the a herd of one year old female cows.  I am learning lots and getting my fill of running in.  And it has been cool to hang out with dad and the cows.  When we come up to get fed we get to see mom across the road.  She is always there checking in on how I am doing.  Here are some pictures of the early morning light and the farm!

Tooty Fruity watching the morning commuters!

Tizzy getting a morning scratch from a commuter!  She is two weeks old and was abandoned by her mother.  Tooty Fruity has taken her under her wing!  Sometimes Tizzy gets in a tizzy fit so thus her name, we love her just the same!

What, I am cute as a button!

Wow, how time flies when you are having fun.  Well things have slowed down around the farm since the kids have gone off to school.  I only see them in the late afternoons.

We do have a couple new additions to the farm.  They are so ugly they are cute.  Meet Frances and Olivia!

We have also seen a lot of new baby belted galloways pop up on the farm.  It is cool to have all these new little folks running around the farm!

July 30, 2008

We are just all excited about all the new arrivals of cows, there are cows here and there and everywhere.  How exciting!  Two of the cows that came have now had their babies - one being born yesterday and the other last week.  How excited are we of these two new bundles of joy.  Just plain excited!

Also, a HUGE THANK YOU to the neighbors who gathered money to purchase us two baby female cows!  They picked out a curly haired Belty and named it Martha!

This morning I watched the kids in the gardens.  I called out for them to bring me some squash or cabbage or corn or tomatoes, heck even the peppers are looking good.  The flowers are beautiful and I bet they taste just as good.  Why won't the kids bring some over to me?  Just a nibble is all I'm asking.

We've got a new cow to the farm.  Reminds me of an Oreo Cookie, those are so good and I could use some right now.  She has yet to be named and I hope to get in on the naming contest.  And I'm jealous for she is going to be in a movie, due out in March.  A star already and has only been on the farm for less than two weeks.  That's crazy.  I wish I was a star.  Daddy is even a star, he's in an article in Our State.  I think there is also a picture of me and even Tooti Fruity!  I'm still jealous of Oreo.

Hi, I'm Tooti Fruity.  I am always at attention watching all these crazy animals around here.  I like to talk to the other animals and I'm starting to warm up to the humans that come around here, especially the one's that have a little food for all of us.

Here's a picture of Joey at the height of laziness.  I wish I could lay down and eat!

Joey, "What, this container of hay was made for me.  It's comfortable and tastes good!"

I lost my journal in all the mud recently!  But now I have it back.  We got two new animals on the farm, and they are a hoot.

Meet Rooty!

And Tooti Fruity!

Rooty wasn't being treated properly by it's previous owner so now he has made his way to our Farm.  He is a hoot.  If you call his name he comes up the fence, wagging his little tail.  He also loves to be scratched behind his front legs.  And he really seems to like shoes, he is all about new shoes and if your feet smell good he'll be your best friend.   Tooti Fruity, the llama, came to the farm a couple of weeks ago to protect the goats and sheep, and now Rooty from Coyotes!  He is getting to know his way around the Goat Barn.  And once when the goats and sheep got out, he paced the yard calling to them to come back.  I think he is a little attached to all of them!

Let it snow, Let it snow!  I want to get out in it and play.  And it was a pure white out here last night.  I felt like I was in a tube of vanilla ice cream.  The flakes were so big and fluffy and now I just want to go run and play!  Deac wants to come too.

February 11, 2008

What a beautiful day it is and what a crazy windy day it was yesterday.  I stayed in the barn all day yesterday for fear of getting blown to Kansas!  Saturday, Deac and I ran the barnyard.  We played tag all day and showed off our kicking talents.  People watching thought we were a little nuts, but we had a lot of fun.  Mamma just sat and watched all of our craziness, I think we wore her out!

Yeehaw, I finally got to meet the girl that gave me my name!  Hooray and she brought all her classmates with her.  We had a good ole' time with them and I got to show them the farm.  The even fed us a bunch of carrots.  Oh, and I hear they left a box of vanilla wafers in the tac room.  I'm sure Billy Todd, Gus and Joey can't wait to get a hold of them!  I had a great time and I know the kids from Jones Intermediate School had a great time also!  Thanks for visiting.  J.B.

Getting ready for the hayride to the farm!

At the farm!

Here's me meeting Katie, she's the one in the light pink jacket!

Momma getting some carrots!

Deac: I love to get some pats!

Heading back for lunch!  Thanks for coming.

Deac here, I am so excited, for a little girl has sponsored me for the year!  Hooray.  She collected money for the farm instead of asking for birthday presents.  Wow, I don't know that I could have done that.  I do appreciate all the great feed that I am going to get because of her generosity.

J.B. here, I am so excited, enthusiastic, and just plain overwhelmed, for the little girl that turned in my name is coming to visit.  I've got a ton of cleaning to do before she gets here.  I can't wait to meet her.  What, ma, I'm coming, gotta go clean my room, it's a little bit messy according to momma!

January 23, 2008

I love to run and momma loves to follow me.  Deac (miniature donkey) even gets in on a little exercise with me.  Wow, the weather has been crazy.  I love the opportunity to get out and run, run, run.  It's fun!

Weeee, follow me!

Come on Deac, follow the leader!

Spunky here, I just stand here and watch and stay out of the way of that little one, he's nuts!

What is this white stuff all over the ground that is wet all over.  Momma calls it Snow.  S-now, Sn-ow, Sno-w, Snow.  Hmm, it sure is cold out here.  I like it in the barn, for it is a whole lot warmer.  I did get a chance to get out and run around in it.  It was crazy and a little slick outside.  I got all muddy, which is fine by me, but momma doesn't like me tracking it in to the barn, especially since the Farmer  just put down new hay to sleep on, oops.

I can't believe that people turned in 335 choices for my name.  Oh, my, I know I'll get a good one for sure.  Even a couple of classes turned in names for me.  Thanks to Mrs. Grubbs Class at Jones Intermediate School in Mt. Airy and to Mrs. Keene's Class at Summit School in Winston-Salem, for a bunch of great names.  Also a great big thank to all who sent in names, especially parents who emailed for their kids!

Drum Roll Please....My new name is J.B. after my mom and dad, Jack and Becky.  Hooray, I have a name, Yippee!  Thanks to Katie at Jones Intermediate School for submitting it.
